Othello says the term "goats and monkey" to Lodovico when he shows up on the island. If someone were to say this term to Othello it would be very racist and would personally offend Othello. He would most likely get very upset and probably want to hurt whoever said it to him but instead Othello is the one saying this to white people. so if you think about the question lingers, is it right for Othello to be able to say this to other people but not okay for someone to call Othello it? Well i think it isn't necessarily fair that Othello can say this line but it would be racist if a white person were saying to a black person. But what if a black person were saying it to a black person? then it wouldn't matter right? In todays society even if a white person were to call a black person a nigger you would probably get slapped in the face and the black person would be really offended but if a black person went up to his friend who was a black person and say hey nigger then it wouldn't matter at all. Thats what they call each other thats their race and to them calling each other that is nothing but a different race calling them that is a huge deal. So it doesn't all make sense but it also doesn't make sense why Othello would say this in the first place. He probably thinks he has more power and it means something when he says like don't mess with me because is basically the only black person around.

racism act 3
Othello talks about his own race in this act about how Desdemona's reputation is as white as the snow but now it is as dirty as his black face. i think he says this because he use to think of Desdemona as this sweet, nice, and pure girl but now that Iago is convinces him that Desdemona slept with Cassio Othello thinks of Desdemona as a black dirty person. Just like some people want nothing to do with black people at all. then Othello says he is going to think of a way to kill his beautiful devil wife is what he calls her. Many people refer to Othello as the devil for marrying Desdemona and now he calls Desdemona a devil for sleeping with Cassio. Just like he thinks he is a devil for marrying her. Othello is upset for everything that is going on I think it is going through he head that maybe Desdemona cheated on him because he is black and Cassio isn't. If only Iago wouldn't have lied to Othello and said things that weren't true then nothing would be going on right now. Othello wouldn't think about himself as a black person or a devil because he knows he will be a devil by he end of all this because he wants to kill his own wife for cheating. I wish Othello would just go ask his own wife what happen and if it was true and trust her with what she would say.
